1. Thank you, Sibiu

On 29th September, COMETS Crypto Currencies: Fiscality, Legislation & Taxes brought traders, investors, founders, accountants and lawyers together at Mercure Sibiu Arsenal. Nine speakers walked the room through how crypto income is taxed in Romania, which records to keep, how to file the annual declaration and how to spot investment schemes early.

2. Sofia, same energy

On 25th September, Avalanche Team1, COMETS and BuildRooms took over Sofia Tech Park for an official ETHSofia side event during Blockchain Week Bulgaria. Builders from across the region, a fresh look at the Avalanche ecosystem and voices from the local Sofia scene, all in one room.

2. We leveled up: The Crypto Support is now Taxes Support​

​Dr. Adrian Morar has spent three decades trading the financial markets and 25 years building training programs for Romania's banking sector at the Romanian Banking Institute, covering financial markets, risk management and MiFID II. He has spoken at ASE, XTB and Admiral Markets, moderated investment conferences with more than 20 specialists on stage, and invested as an entrepreneur across education, IT, real estate and media. A Doctor in Economics and Managing Partner at Leaders Inside, he joined our speakers in Sibiu on 29th September.

​Victor Apetrei founded Liber la Bursa, a program and community for Romanians who want to invest on the stock market with a clear plan. He is a certified advisor with eight years on the markets and more than 1,000 guided portfolios, and his members meet him in live masterminds to work through their questions together. On 29th September he joined our speakers in Sibiu, right where crypto and traditional investing meet.

1 Idea From Others

​Verena Ross, Chair of ESMA, speaking to the European Parliament's economic affairs committee on 28th September:

"We want innovation to flourish within a framework that provides clarity for firms."

She told MEPs that ESMA's MiCA work has moved from writing the rules to supervising them, and two days later ESMA showed what that looks like. Its response to the MiCA review proposes bringing DeFi gateways, staking and lending into scope, and it calls out "decentralisation washing": projects with an identifiable operator that lean on DeFi language to stay clear of MiCA.

For now these are recommendations to the European Commission, with the review expected by June 2027. For teams building in the EU, who operates the protocol is becoming the question that shapes the license.
